Sonia began her life as a Management Consultant after a successful career in higher education. She has always maintained a link with the charitable sector having set up several organisations including two women’s refuges, a housing association and a community centre. Sonia has sat on a number of Boards including a Primary Care Trust, WiM Network (local, regional and national), People’s Housing Association, TunTum Housing Association and has been the national lead for Women In Management (formerly WIMUK) since 2013.
Sonia is a much sought after coach with experience in Management and Leadership. In 2006 she established her company with the aim of supporting people in middle to senior management roles. With a background in education advice, Sonia is aware of the feelings and processes individuals go through as they consider challenges and new opportunities in their lives bought about by redundancy. As a result she has developed highly successful skills in supporting clients through that process.
She has worked successfully in the private, public and not for profit sectors and is known for her ability to make sense of complicated situations and for getting things done. This is reflected in her extensive client list in countries ranging from Romania, France and Trinidad, to Ireland, the UK and Zambia.

Sandra is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered management Institute (CMI) and Institute of Consulting (IC), Director, Management and Business Consultant and Executive Coach with over 20 years of strategic and operational organisational experience covering, strategic planning, change and talent management, performance improvement, membership development, Leadership & Management training, coaching and mentoring.
She also has excellent business and commercial acumen running her own consultancy, Open Mind Coaching UK for the past seven years. In addition Sandra has been an outstanding advocate for a number of causes over the years. Examples include her starting the homeless support project Bread of Life (1990 – 1994) which provided food, advice and support for Leicester’s homeless twice per week, at the time when no such programmes existed. This project led to the development of the Dawn Centre run by the City Council. This was her vision for Leicester.
Sandra may be best known for her amazing work and contribution to women through her role as Director Trustee of LeicestHer Day and the National Chair (2012-2013) of CMI WiM Network, growing the membership of the latter from 5000 to 23,000 during her tenure.
During her previous time with Women In Management (formerly WIMUK) Sandra developed Horizon Mentoring® programme which has supported around 200 women in career development and progression, starting their own businesses, growing in confidence, self esteem and aspiration to achieve their highest potential.
Sandra has helped hundreds of business small, medium and large (in provide, public, voluntary and charitable organisations) to transform their approach to business and staff development, changing their thinking, behaviour and approach to increase their profitability and achievement.
In more recent years Sandra has worked with the CMI initially as Specialist Network Manager and then Head of Membership Engagement, until the end of 2014. During her time with CMI Sandra developed the Achieve Mentoring programme, along with a number of other initiatives.
Sandra has now rejoined the Executive team of Women In Management, by the invitation of the Executive team to again lend her excellent membership development skills to growing this network further, in the newly created role of National Membership and Events Coordinator.

Ron Simpson CFCMI CFCIPD M Ed
A chartered manager and company director, Ron was a previous East Midlands Regional Chair of the Chartered Management Institute and President of its Leicestershire and Rutland Branch.
As proprietor of the Rutland based consultancy RMJS Associates Ltd, he specialises in local governance matters and public/private sector relationships. Ron is company secretary of the award winning partnership Uppingham First and chairs both his community’s business forum and its third sector community forum.
Ron has a Masters Degree in Multicultural Education, is the author of a thesis on the competencies exhibited by women managers and has been a life long champion of women in the work place. His Facebook and Twitter identity is ‘Uppingham’.
